For two weekends each year 15 - 20 alleys would be opened up as spaces for art installations from emerging artists. Apart from concept development, curating, and fundraising, I managed the entire project team. Every year I organized the festival with a new discipline. The route was intended to bring people, emerging artist and heritage together in an unexpected way.
Guest Curator 2016 - 2017 Museum Boijmans van Beuningen, Rotterdam, The Netherlands
I was invited by Museum Boijmans van Beuningen to develop a concept and exhibition to animate an existing permanent collection of metalware from Rotterdam's past. This is how Bling Bling came to life – an exhibition that reflected the port city of Rotterdam and some of it’s most prominent new immigrant cultures. I collected objects similar to those already in the collection, but contemporary and from shops in the different cultural areas of the city. Lots of diamonds, shiny plastic, metal and heavily decorated cutlery, teapots and jugs, ended up in the exhibition. These often gaudy, modern pieces were juxtaposed with the existing collection, bringing new life and a modern cultural context to what had become an under-visited section of the museum.

This has become an extremely popular and integral part of the festival and residents along the canal are now very keen to open their houses for the festival and its visitors.

Guest Curator 2014 Dutch Gin Museum - Jenevermuseum, Schiedam, The Netherlands
As a guest curator for the museum, I developed a concept and exhibition that reacted to the permanent exhibition in a contemporary way. Postcards from Schiedam (Afzender Schiedam), became an exhibition with postcards from the past reacting on postcards from the present. History melted together with the future with a lightness that was unfamiliar for the normally dark and cozy museum.

As a cultural entrepreneur, I'm always on the lookout to new things, in art but also in general life. This way of thinking, causes me to innovate and surprise myself continuously. I love exploring and discovering new ways to presenting and exhibit art.
One of my passions is making art interesting for art lovers, but also people without the outspoken love for art.
Stumbling over different installations in strange places, opening mind and vision.
